Terms and Conditions
Important
: Please read the terms and conditions carefully before you book or send any unaccompanied baggage.
1.
Unaccompanied Baggage
Unaccompanied Baggage is considered low priority airfreight by all airlines. This means that it is sent on a '
space and flight available
' basis. Therefore, it may be held back or off-loaded at any port during the journey to its destination.
2.
Jupiter's Responsibility
Jupiter Air Oceania Ltd ("Jupiter") acts only as an agent between you and the airline we nominate to carry your luggage to its destination. Once your luggage is handed over to the airline, it will be out of Jupiter's control and supervision. Therefore Jupiter will not accept any responsibility for any damage, theft or loss of your luggage after it has been handed over to the airline.
3.
Personal Baggage
Jupiter's unaccompanied baggage service is available for personal baggage only. Commercial freight cannot be accepted at the discounted unaccompanied baggage rates.
4.
Insurance
Your luggage is not automatically covered by insurance. It is your responsibility to remove any valuable from the unaccompanied luggage or take separate insurance cover where appropriate.
NOTE
:
Insurance will not cover any valuable item. A full list of contents with their nominated values is required if you wish to insure your luggage.
5.
Security
Unaccompanied baggage
must not contain
any
non-personal
article of the passenger, including,
but not limited to
,
machinery, machine, spare parts, money, jewelry, watches, securities, plates, plated ware, furs, films, cameras, tickets, documents, liquors, aerosols, perfumes, articles of household furnishings, merchandise, salesman samples and any fragile item
.
6.
Dangerous Goods
Unaccompanied baggage
must not contain
any
dangerous goods
which may cause a safety risk to the carrier. Dangerous goods include,
but not limited to
,
liquor, paint, batteries, ammunition, fireworks, explosive, chemicals, acids, poisons and toxic gases, magnetised materials, radioactive materials, flammable liquids, flammable solids, organic peroxide, oxidizing materials, infectious substances, asbestos and dry ice
.
Failure to declare dangerous goods or comply with Government Safety Regulations is a serious offence. Under Part 23 of the Australian Civil Aviation Act (1988), and under the Laws which govern the transport of baggage and cargo worldwide,
heavy penalties including imprisonment
apply to shippers who do not declare dangerous goods in any item consigned to an airline.
If you are unsure an item you are consigning is classified as dangerous goods, please consult our staff.
7.
Lodgement
To lodge your unaccompanied baggage, simply present your baggage together with your valid airline ticket and photograph identification, such as driver's licence or passport, at
Jupiter's facility
.
8.
Payment
Payment must be made at time of lodgement. Payment can be made by cash or major credit cards.
9.
Retrieval
As your luggage is traveling with an airline, you must contact the nominated airline's cargo office at your destination for retrieval of your luggage and quote the Master Air Waybill ("MAWB") number. You must not contact Jupiter's office unless advised otherwise.
10.
Customs Clearance
Your unaccompanied baggage will be held under Customs control in the country of your destination until you clear it through the local Customs.
11.
Local Charges
Every airport around the world has local charges such as Terminal fees, Documentation Charges, Storage and Handling Fees, etc regardless of what you have paid when you lodged your luggage with Jupiter.
12.
Storage Fee
Depending on the airline, airline may, but not necessary, allow you two (2) days of
free
storage from the date of arrival of your unaccompanied baggage. After the allowable period, the airline will charge you storage fee in addition to the lodgement fee and any duties and taxes. You will have to check with the airline.
13.
Unclaimed Baggage
Unclaimed baggage will be impounded or disposed of by the local Customs after certain reasonable period of time.
